Hall, Stairs & Landing Painting & Wallpapering in Hinckley

This Hinckley hall, stairs and landing transformation, involved the complete redecoration of a traditional staircase, including the transformation of the original wooden bannister into a modern painted finish, complemented by a striking black handrail.

The homeowners wanted to create a brighter, warmer and more welcoming entrance to their new home, which had been left feeling unloved by the previous occupants.

The finished space is now lighter, fresher and far more inviting, while retaining the character of the traditional staircase.

The Challenge: Transforming a Traditional Property

After recently moving into their new home, the owners wanted to create a light and bright landing with a finish that would look great and stand the test of time.

Having experienced issues with mould in the past, they knew that using a durable anti-mould paint on the walls was essential to help prevent similar problems in the future.

Durable, high-quality paints were used throughout the space, providing a hard-wearing finish that not only looks great but is designed to last for years to come.

How We Prepared the Hall, Stairs & Landing

Firstly, the existing wallpaper was carefully removed and any damaged areas were repaired and prepared.

The plaster in traditional homes can often have more variation and movement than you’d find in a modern property. To achieve the best possible finish, all of the walls were lined before wallpapering. We’re always amazed at the difference lining paper can make — it creates a much more consistent surface and really helps the finished wallpaper look its best.

The bannister was also showing signs of wear and tear, largely due to a previous finish that hadn’t stood the test of time. It was thoroughly sanded, primed and re-painted to give it a fresh, durable finish.

There were also repairs required to the existing doors and door frames, including old latch holes and other imperfections. Once repaired and painted, these areas simply disappeared into the finished work.
