Preparing the Fresh Plaster

The newly plastered walls required the correct preparation before the final paint could be applied.

We prepared the surfaces and applied the appropriate mist coat to the fresh plaster, creating a suitable base for the subsequent coats of paint.

Taking the time to prepare fresh plaster correctly is essential for achieving an even, durable finish rather than simply applying the final paint straight onto the surface.

Preparing Existing Oil-Based Paint

Some of the existing painted surfaces presented a different challenge.

The old oil-based paint had started to yellow and required thorough preparation before it could be repainted.

The surfaces were carefully sanded and primed to provide a sound base for the new paint and help prevent problems with adhesion and the underlying colour showing through.

This preparation was particularly important in a hall, stairs and landing, where the finished surfaces need to withstand the demands of everyday family life.

A Durable Matt Finish

For the final finish, a durable matt paint was selected to provide a hard-wearing surface while maintaining a clean, contemporary appearance.

The combination of thorough preparation and durable paint helps ensure the newly decorated space not only looks fresh when completed, but continues to perform well over time.
