Best Exterior Wood Paint by Pure Perfection Painters

Best Exterior Wood Paint

After testing various paints / along with completing various exterior projects, we've finished ata process which we feel is flexible for various application and give a great / durable finish. The first step of that process is selecting the paint. We'll get straight to it and say Bedec Multi Surface Paint (MSP) covers all the bases. It's great value, easily available, can be tinted to almost any colour and applies great. The thing we like about the Bedec is that it is thick like a normal wood paint. This helps cover imperfections in exterior wood which isn't always the smoothest if you're refurbishing windows or doors. An alternative is Zinsser Allcoat, although we find this very thin and would require 3 coats at least, where the Bedec usually covers in two.

Painting Exterior Wood

Application

If you have a project and maybe you're re-coating exterior wooden windows and doors in a relatively good condition. All you would need to do is give the frames a light sand and clean, then you're away with the Bedec MSP. Simple!

Painting and priming exterior wood

Heavy Refurbishments

If you're coming up against heavily damaged windows or garage doors, we would however add an extra step our two.

Firstly sand down as much as the damage as possible. Scrape off any loose paint and keep sanding. Once you're happy that all the paint is rubbed down smooth, then you can continue to the next step.

Primer. Use a primer, as there is bound to be areas of bare wood and peeling paint. For this, we use Johnstone' Joncryl. You could use a Zinsser product also which would do the same thing. We'd recommend priming the whole window or door to ensure the priming and colour is uniform across the whole surface you're painting.

Then once primed, leave for an hour and you're onto painting with two coats of the Bedec MSP.

Conclusion

Whether you're painting a porch / windows / garage door or even metal railings, Bedec MSP is a great choice for most external wood and metal projects. As mentioned you can get it in any colour. Simply go to your local Dulux Trade Centre Or Brewers Centre and they will get you on your way. Happy decorating!
